An Act To amend the The Bihar Private Universities Act, 2013 (Bihar Act 20, 2013)

The Bihar Private Universities Act, 2013 has been enacted for establishment of Private Universities in the state of Bihar with the aim to provide access to quality higher education. Sub-section (2) of Section 5 of this Act deals with the provisions of time period fixed for the submission of compliance report against the letter of intent issued for establishment of a Private University. In the interest of the state, it is expedient to make amendments in the proviso of sub-section (2) of Section 5 of the Bihar State Private University Act, 2013.

Therefore, be it enacted by the legislature of the state of Bihar in the seventy second year of the Republic of India, as follows:—

## Section 1. Short title, extent and commencement.—(1) This Act may be called the Bihar Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2021.

(2) It shall extend to the whole of the State of Bihar.

(3) It shall come into force from 01.04.2021.

2. Amendment of ## Section 5 of Bihar Act 20, 2013.—The Proviso of sub-section (2) of Section 5 of The Bihar Private Universities Act, 2013 (Bihar Act 20, 2013) shall be substituted by the following:—

“Provided that where in spite of making efforts, the sponsoring body has failed to submit compliance report during the time period mentioned in the letter of intent for valid reasons the state government may extend the time period for submission of compliance report for such period as deemed fit.”
